Interview subject: A friend
When I was a kid, I idolized people and the influences around me. I was raised by my parents, but when I was 3 years old, my mother left us to work overseas to give us a better future. Since my mother was working overseas, my father raised and guided me.
My grandma, however, is the most influential person in my life. My grandma guided me and she’s supported and cared for me. When I was 14 years old, I got into a accident and was in a coma for one week and miraculously, I woke up. My family was so worried about me, but my grandma decided to stay beside me in the hospital for the whole week, day and night.
I love my grandma and every time I see her she’s happy and smiling, Unfortunately, when I left for Canada, I had to leave her too. That really hurt my feelings because my grandma was staying in the Philippines and I was worried about her. After living two years in Canada, last year we decided to visit my grandma back home. She was so surprised and happy and so was I. It felt like I had not seen her for a lifetime.
My grandma is my inspiration to persevere in the world. When I was a kid, she said to me, “No matter what happens to you, I want you to trust yourself.” My grandma changed my life. #FamilyStory #MostInfluentiallPersonEver #Grandma’sBoy
