Advice – If you’re gonna go above an beyond with photos, plan in advance – If you don’t know what to do for a certain assignment, go research other photographers and ideas to inspire you. – Make friends in this class, they’ll be a huge help with modelling, assisting, and good company for stressful shoots – Don’t get too upset when photos don’t turn out the way you want, the time crunch is real and it’s totally understandable if you didn’t produce the work you wanted – Continue taking photos even when there’s not an assignment around the corner, having spare photos for other assignments can help IMMENSELY – ALWAYS sign out equipment, it’s better to have it and not need it then to need it and not have it – ALWAYS back up your photos; on USBs, on Google Drives, on Google Docs, anywhere you can back it up. 2 is one, 1 is none. Technology will always fail you! – Peer review, asking other students to look at your work can be scary since these are people who are judging your work but constructive criticism for photos, arrangements, artist statements are a huge help in this class – DO LEAVE THINGS LAST MINUTE, this goes for everything in life but seriously you cannot leave these assignments to the last day, just because you think taking photos is easy doesn’t make the creative process easy. It leaves everything rushed and overall artistically unsatisfied. – In short, have fun in this course. The techniques are cool and the time you spend learning how to share your creativity in so many ways are inspiring. I had a great time in this class and I’ll miss it very much
