Home comes in many different forms. It can be the place where you sleep, the place you come from, and even the place you wish to be in. Though Albania may be small, at FHCI, we have a huge community of students of Albanian origin.

When you are from a lesser-known society, it can be difficult to preserve your heritage. A culture like the Albanian one can be overlooked, and one could feel far from home.

Thanks to the great efforts of the Albanian Club, a party was held at lunch in the music room to commemorate Albania’s Independence Day on November 28th “It was a lovely experience – to have us all together to commemorate our country!” says Andrea Ketis, a member of the Albanian Club.

This party welcomed all students, regardless of their ethnic background and heritage. A variety of traditional Albanian foods and music were shared, and students were encouraged to watch and participate in traditional Albanian dances.

“I think that Albania has such a rich culture that it would be a waste for it not to have a clubs surrounding it. This experience has helped me share my culture’s food with people who would’ve never had the chance if not for our club,” says Elia Pasha, another member of the Albanian Club.

The Albanian Club at FHCI is an environment that showcases the culture of a beautiful nation. It is an environment where everyone can learn Albanian history and culture. The Albanian Club’s Independence Day Party certainly shaped a feeling of home for many students, Albanian or not.
